Tacky Christmas Sweaters

I can say I understand I love past styles. But I do wonder when they first came into style what made a designer think of Christmas sweaters with giant christmas trees and reindeer on them was a good idea. I kinda love them now though, I mean it's pretty funny that people now host  "ugly christmas sweaters parties." But what is best of all that the younger generations are asking there parents/grandparents to borrow the sweaters and the reactions for loaning there "tacky" sweaters is so funny!

Take my mom, in the early 90's she had this Christmas sweater with a giant Christmas tree on it and snow all over it. When I asked her if I could borrow it for a wacky tacky christmas party she was so offended (she has great taste and stuff, it was a trend back then so I get why she was) and I had to explain that its a trend now and that it was great then but now it awesome. She agreed and stuff but I still wonder, what made people think to them selves, "self, lets where a christmas sweater with 20 bells on it." Ahhhhh good stuff.
I love Christmas sweaters though, they are fun and festive.I've seen a couple of great ones this year.

Seems like Christmas has snuck upon us. I even forgot to make a paper chain count down, last year i made it in November! Alas today we decorated the tree and cleaned the house for a christmas party and yesterday i went to a tacky christmas sweater party! Crazy how time flies when your panicking for finals. Bet you thought I'd say "having fun" huh? Hah! I had 2 tests and a project this week and next week I've got 3 exams! But it hasn't been all work... I recently discovered Polyvore.com and have done little else, that sight is addicting! I tried to post them but it didn't work well. My account is called colorwheel

Library Crazy Lady

Okay ignoring the fact that I haven't posted in ages shame on me yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh well, October was kinda a dud. I actually was gonna blog about Halloween and how no little kids say "trick or treat" any more and I was gonna blog about what every freshmen experiences at homecoming too. But it turns out school is really exhausting! Like legits... I fell asleep at… ready? SIX O'CLOCK PM!!!!!!! On a Friday night. Pitiful. And I slept almost solid until 8 this morning. So my bad, I didn't post.

But on another note, I usually go to the library in a free period at our school that every one has (referred to as MM) and for about the first week of school anyone could go into the library and it was cool. Then there was too many people or something so they but a guy by the gate(right next to the doors) to hand out passes.  And if you couldn't get one it sucked but it's like "oh well" and stuff.

Then he got replaced by this really mean, rude, evil(jk but yeah) and she would show her wrath unto us innocent people. I got there about 10 minutes before this period starts the first day she came. Sometimes the guy wouldn't come and it'd be free into the library day, so figured it was like that when she wasn't there. So we went to the library only to be force back up to the gate. When we get there she's pushing this cart with the passes. We were clearly there first so we kinda stick out our hands for a pass. And she's all like "GET TO THE BACK OF THE LINE" so we're like fine mmm'k then. So we get out passes and go. The next day she's there and is mean as ever so I’m like 'oh maybe she's having a rough week' so I decided to be a good kid and say thanks for the pass. Whoops my bad for trying to be nice. She's like" THANKS FOR WHAT?!?!?!" and I’m like "um... the pass?"(chill yo') and she's like ughhhhh. So the next day I’m like screw it she's clearly insane so I decide not to provoke her to be mean and say nothing like every one else. And to every one else she just glares and hands them a pass. But when she gets to me she holds the pass back from me and is like “WHAT DO YOU WANT?!?!" and I’m like "um a pass"  and she's like "WHAT DO YOU SAY?" "um... please?" and I go on.

Can I call that hateful teaching? oh wait SHE DOESN'T EVEN TEACH A CLASS. I mean ,like, I get it, you've had a rough day but like really? She attacks me... for one time trying to be polite. Well sorry.

And really? You're honestly trying to keep teens out of the library? Like really? I guess that’s actually to the librarian who wanted the limit thing but still. Like you get it right?

So any way that’s my rant.

Clay Flowers

This is the mold I bought from MoldMuse

I try to be creative or artsy whenever I possible can. Fortunately or not I don't really have a "thing" in art. Over the summer I went through a phase where I tried to make soap (soap is very sticky...who knew? Later I'll make a post on that though) Lately, I’ve been really in to making polymer flowers.

Let me 'splain. I while ago I was at my city's flea (kinda) market. There was this one table with these adorable earrings, necklaces, hairpins, ECT. It was all so cute! But due to the fact I’m not made of money, I couldn't buy everything (I did buy a hair pin and a necklace.) Later over the summer I was at a teeny tiny little store in Duck North Carolina and I saw almost identical things as a saw at the flea market. I don't live very close to Duck, so I seriously doubted this one woman drove like 12 hours just to sell these things to a tiny boutique. That’s when I pieced together that the adorable flowers weren't made each by hand as I originally thought. IT WAS A MOLD! I realized it when I Googled it.

So I got on Etsy.com and sure enough there they all were. (Which means I kinda used 30 bucks on cute stuff I coulda made but whatever,) I bought a mold I tried to figure out how to use it. And here it is:

You use Polymer Clay, which is Sculpy, Premo, Fimo, ECT. Soften in your hands. Mix colors of polymer until color is smooth and the right color. Then push clay into mold (some molds may need release agent so plan ahead) you'd want to press it in pretty hard so that all of the details of the mold make it on. Smooth off the top of the mold of any extra clay. Now this may seem bizarre but if your clay is super warm from your hands put the mold of clay into the freezer, if the clay is warm when you try to get it out of the mold it will collapse in on its self a little bit. When your clay is cooler put it on a sheet of aluminum foil, put the aluminum of a cookie sheet. Repeat, as many times you want to. When you’re ready to bake, heat your normal oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake for 12-15 minutes. You could also follow the wrapper of the clay for this. There’s not really any "raw" or "well done" for clay but be careful that you don't miss-read that as 375 like I did at first because you may notice a large group of brown flowers on the right and it smelled pretty bad. Also the black flowers, those weren’t made with black clay.

So yeah... that’s how you get the flowers or what ever you may want to make. You can also order earring studs with nothing on them and charms, necklace chains, you know...  anything and turn them into stuff.

Knitting

My First Knitting Project

Well I have to say, I do feel some guilt for not posting over the weekend because that was goal. But, I was sick with a terrible, terrible cold so I think I get out of my guilt with a pity party. I was 3rd in my family to be sick so we didn't have any decongestants so I just sat and knitted and blew my nose all weekend.

Regarding the knitting, on Labor Day my family went on a "we're going to repaint all of the trim, doors and stairs in the entire house" kick, yeah, so my mom was in the stairwell painting and I was kind of stranded so I was super bored. So I eventually I went up to my chest full of artsy craft stuff(If you ever mention to your extended family you like art you will get tons of creative stuff, like more than a human could use) and found some knitting needles and some lime green yarn. I was kind of like "eh, what the heck!" and Googled how to knit. Surprisingly enough, you have to type "for beginners" at  the end of that phrase otherwise you get like 5,000 YouTube videos of people saying things like "now first you want to cast on then you begin to knit, now when you are on the 15th row you want to..." and as someone who has no idea how to cast on, knit or what a 15th row is(okay actually I could probably figure that one out but still) I had to figure most of it on my own-ish.

Which makes me very proud to say I currently have about 14 inches of green scarf that started out skinny and slowly got much wider. On a kind of related note, if you are a knitting expert and a good teacher, let me know because I realize when I eventually finish this scarf I'm going to need to "cast off" (is that a thing?) and I’ve made a couple of mistakes that I have no idea how I made. So yeah.

Also, I'm not going to be a tool and not say anything because it was only 2 days ago that America remembered the 10 year anniversary of 9/11, My respects and sympathies to everyone who had loved ones in the horrible incident of 9/11. It was a terrible tragedy and I hope America never has to go through anything so horrible again. I'm so sorry for everything you went through.

Labor Day Weekend

So it's Labor Day weekend and whatnot! Whoohoo! Today I ran in my city's 29th annual Women's Four Miler for breast cancer. There were about 3,500 Runners and Walkers and it was ah-mazing! I didn't really train...actually I trained once, in the beginning of the summer... I ran 1/2 a mile. Sooo, my goal was to finish... My mom and I ran it together and I ran about 2/3 to 3/4 of the race. Sense I didn't really train we decided to go with the "walkers" when we were lining up for the start of the race. Well, it turns out we were a bit faster than them because we probably added about 1/4 a mile weaving around them trying to get ahead. The Women's Four miler was so much fun, did you do anything fun this weekend?

Toms Shoes

My Brother got a pair of Tom’s shoes for Christmas last year and a couple weeks ago he proclaimed them the shoes of the summer. I've been wanting a pair for a while now and I was looking on then website for a good style. I realized when I was looking that there are a lot of styles. There are the Classics, but there's also Botas, Wedges and Wrap boots. It’s pretty cool because the shoes are really cute but they also go to a great cause. Toms is a One for One organization, for every pair of shoes bought a pair of shoes go to a child who can't afford a pair. They're cute and they're a good cause. If you wanna check the site out here’s the link: http://www.toms.com/

Heart Shaped Sunglasses

In December,I was shopping inside a calender store when i saw the best thing ever(as far as calenders go) The 365 Days of Fashion. I ,of course, bought it and began to read. Other than seeing “Fashion regrets” like the fish bowl heel I saw on June 7th: Heart Shaped Sunglasses. Cute and Sweet. It was an ‘80s favorite and it is slowly coming back.I'm making sure they come back. I already bought a pair.

Marc Jacobs said, "Happy happy fashion--there is not much more than that."
And I totally agree! They are cute and they inspire more...love I guess.
Check them out on Fredflare.com

Actually Blogging

I have been really wanting to blog for a while. But there were some questions about how that would work out and things like that,so I never got around to doing it the way I was told I was allowed to. But now after 2 months of having but not posting,
4 months of wanting, hours searching for the perfect background, even more hours of trying to figure out how to make it my background, Thousands of prayers and a rug burned elbow..... I got it.And now, finally, I'm starting. I'm not quite sure what to do or say but, hey I figure this is a learning experience and whats the worse thing that could happen?
